Bloomsburg Baseball Ends Spring Trip With Split
RALEIGH, NC--The Bloomsburg University baseball team ended its spring trip with a split of a doubleheader with Shaw University. The Huskies won the opener, 5-4, then dropped the nightcap, 9-7.
In game one, the Huskies took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning with three runs scoring on a Keith Sacarakis (Allentown/Liberty) home run. Bloomsburg also got an RBI single from Jeremy Eck (Williamsport/Montoursville) with the other run scoring on an error. Sacarakis finished 2-4, while Eck was 1-3.
Dave Rute (Milton/Milton) picked up the win, while Paul Culbertson (Downingtown/Downingtown West) earned the save.
In game, the Huskies opened a 5-1 lead in the third inning on a grand slam by Rob Watlock (Plains/Coughlin). After Shaw cut the lead down to 5-3, the home team scored six times in the fifth to take a 9-5 lead. Bloomsburg got two runs back in the seventh when Matt Robinson (York/Red Lion) got an RBI double and Andy Bucher (Littlestown/Littlestown) an RBI on a ground out.
Bloomsburg, 3-12, will host Shippensburg on Tuesday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
